Hi there,
Her'sHere's a new wiki. I've called it health.
I wanted to talk first about migraines.migraines.
Firstly, they are not bad headaches. I've had bad headaches also and sometimes they are worse than migraines, because you often don't have the right medication for them.
With the right medication, cafergot in my case, if you take that at the first sign of a migraine, blurred vision in my case, the migraine will be contained to a dull ache all over the head, shoulders, back.
When I was young and didn't take this medication in time, I would get a full-blown migraine which would consist of the blurred vision, full headache which was nearly unbearable and finally vomiting which would signal the end of it all. That would take about 8 hours in duration. The next day I would feel washed out.
I always carry the cafergot with me wherever I go.
It means that I've never been able to do things which require my absolute dedication. I did teach and got many a migraine during class but I would be able to leave class under those circumstances. I could never go on stage though or dance or swim as my abilities dictated in my early years.
In many ways they have been the bane of my existence. I have them since I was 3 and I am now 59.
What causes them? No-one yet knows. More women have them and they have been related to our hormones, but there was never a pattern that I could pin down that applied to me. I used to get them often after a particularly stressful week of work or from other stresses that lasted a while. Sometimes I would be convinced they were from a food I'd just eaten. I didn't eat a particular soup or a cherry ripe for many years, until I realised that those connections were not related to me. I avoid MSG at all times, but am sometimetricked.
